As a result of partial devolution of the Punjab Forest Department, 6 Chak Plantations with less than 2,000 acres were devolved to the District Government Toba Tek Singh from Faisalabad Forest Division. The six irrigated chak plantations namely Bhagat, 150/GB, 160/GB, 46/GB, 300/GB & 324/JB with total area of 3195 acres were transferred from Faisalabad forest Division to the District Government Toba Tek Singh during 2001.
The major functions of this department are:
- Scientific management of forests land in order to ensure maximum optimum use of land and water resources
- To produce industrial wood as well as ornamental plants
- To provide job opportunities to the in-habitants of Toba Tek Singh
- To improve atmosphere by establishing more green cover
- To motivate people to be tree minded and tree lover so that economic, atmospheric and edaphic conditions may be improved
- To establish the habitats of wild life
- To maintain recreational parks for urban people
- To manage linear plantation standing along defunct Zila Council Roads
- To provide camouflage to the army during war time
