The Archives Wing is responsible for preservation, conservation and utilization of archival material for research and reference purpose.
The major functions of Archives Wing are:
- Conducting research on projects of the Archives Directorate
- Preservation and restoration of historical record kept in Punjab Archives which date back to 1804
- Research and reference facilities to Provincial and Federal Departments as well as to students, scholars, native and foreigners
- Collection of records from departments for storage, listing and vetting of drafts lists
- Maintenance of Archival Museum of the Punjab Government
- Issuance of NOCs for record and books etc. to retiring Secretariat Officers
