What I have to do if I am removed from the job?

If you are employed by an industrial or commercial establishment, your employer is bound by certain laws to provide some benefits at the time of termination of services. According to the Industrial and Commercial Employment (Standing Orders) Ordinance, 1968 where 50 (in case of industry) or 20 (in case of commercial establishment) workers are employed, one month's notice or wages in lieu of one month notice have to be given to the worker. Under clause 25 (A) of the Industrial Relations Ordinance, 1969, a worker can bring his grievance to the notice of employer within 3 months of the grievance (including termination). If the employer does not provide the remedy, then he can go to the Labour Court for redressal of his grievance.

What monetary benefits are available to a worker under the Labour Welfare Laws?   Top
The main benefits are following:
  • Minimum Wages for different categories of workers are notified under the Minimum Wages Ordinance.
  • Bonus under Industrial and Commercial Employment (Standing Orders) Ordinance, 1968 has to be given to the workers in case the company earns profit.
  • Double wages for overtime have to be paid.
  • Gratuity at the time of retirement has to be paid.
  • Marriage grants are provided to the industrial workers in case of marriage of their daughters.
  • Houses/plots are allotted to the workers in certain areas.
  • Educational scholarships to the children of workers are awarded every year.

  • One weekly holiday
  • All the Gazetted holidays
  • Total of 14 days paid annual leave.
  • Total of 10 paid casual leave
  • Total of 16 sick-leaves with half pay
