Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education (SH&ME) Kh. Salman Rafique visited the Punjab Institute of Mental Health Lahore (PIMH) on Thursday & inaugurated newly auditorium & up-graded kitchen in the hospital. Executive Director of the institute Dr. Nasir Mehmood Bhatti informed the Minister that previously there was no auditorium in the hospital for organizing training workshops, seminars & patients case conference. He said that an old building has been renovated at a cost of Rs. 6 lac only & converted into auditorium with sitting capacity of 200 people. Dr Nasir further said that it would facilitate to organize workshops, seminars & could also be utilized for organizing recreational events for the patients. The Minister also inaugurated the upgraded/renovated kitchen. Kh. Salman Rafique also inspected different portions of the kitchen & appreciated the hospital administration for making appropriate arrangements & keeping the premises neat & clean. Dr Nasir Mehmood briefed the Minister & said that there were 1400 patients are residing in the institute for them good quality food is being prepared three times in the kitchen during which cleanliness & hygiene has been ensured. Dr. Nasir Mehmood said that sometime patients are very aggressive & arrogant but the doctors & the staff treat/look after the patients efficiently while taking risk. Kh. Salman Rafique appreciated the doctors, nurses & paramedics PIMH for providing quality healthcare to the inmates of the institute.
