Dengue Situation Improving In Lahore

Dengue season is likely to last till middle of December as there have been no rains and consequent decrease in temperature. Departments concerned should continue anti-dengue activities. The number of dengue patients and larvae has fallen considerably. 

This was stated in a meeting presided over by Health Advisor Punjab Khawaja Salman Rafique. Member Provincial Assembly Pir Ashraf Rasool, Director General Health Punjab Dr. Mukhtar Hussain Syed, Dean Institute of Public Health, officers of departments concerned, EDO Health Lahore and representatives of Special Branch, PITB and DHA were present. DCO Rawalpindi informed that number of dengue patients in Islamabad and Rawalpindi has reduced substantially and now only two to three patients are reported daily. It was further told that situation in Lahore is also improving gradually however patients are being reported from DHA and Gulberg Town. DHA representative informed that dengue surveillance has been started in the area. Kh. Salman Rafique took notice of delay in the reporting of dengue patients by some government hospitals and warned that action will be taken against the focal person if reporting of dengue patients is delayed.
