One of the concerns of the urban bus operators is the free ridership, especially by students that adversely affects the financial viability of the urban bus operations. The government has introduced a student card system, starting with in Lahore.
Student cards will be initially issued to students of the public sector colleges and universities. There will be two categories of fare discount cards, Rs.40 card for six months and Rs.100 card for one year. There will be no restriction on the number of trips made by students in a day.
