Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar presided over a high-level meeting at CM Office in which Central Chairman of Kisaan Ittehad Muhammad Anwar and other office-bearers participated in the meeting here today. During the meeting proposals with regard to problems being faced by the farmers and their solutions were being reviewed. Usman Buzdar directed to constitute an advisory committee for holding consultations with the farmers and further directed that advisory committee should submit its report and recommendations relating to problems of farmers at the earliest. Chief Minister while addressing the participants said that Agriculture and Food Department should formulate their policies in the light of recommendations forwarded by the farmers. Agriculture Department and agriculture marketing should extend their interactions with the farmers, he added. With the participation of farmers in the consultation process at every district and divisional level will produce fruitful results, he stated. The attitude of all is well will have to be changed and consultations with stakeholders are inevitable, he stressed. Usman Buzdar on giving utmost assurance to Kisan Ittehad for resolving the problems of farmers said that federal government will be contacted with regard to price of electricity for agriculture tube-wells and arrears. Federal government will also be apprised about the view-point of farmers on the matter of fixing price of commodities. The proposal of kisan market was also being reviewed during the meeting. Usman Buzdar also sought a report from police authorities regarding registration of cases on farmers and directed that factors causing delay in the payment of remaining arrears to sugarcane farmers in Kasur should be removed, concluded Usman Buzdar. Provincial Agriculture Minister Nouman Langriyal said that 20 new seeds are being introduced in Punjab during current year. In order to safeguard from white bee and other damages, usage of new seeds of commodities will be ensured. Provincial Ministers Raja Basharat, Sardar Asif Nakai, Samiullah Chaudhary, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Principal Secretary to CM, IG Police and concerned officers participated in the meeting.
