Rawalpindi Institute of Urology & Transplantation (RIUT) Will Be a Mega Institution for Kidney Diseases & Transplantation in This Area.

Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Punjab (SH&ME) Najam Ahmad Shah has directed all the concerned departments including C&W to accelerate the pace of work on the mega project of Rawalpindi Institute of Urology & Transplantation (RIUT) for completion the project according to the time-line. He said that RIUT is being constructed at a cost of Rs.4 Billion & it would be a state of the art institute for the treatment of kidney diseases & transplantation in the area. Najam Ahmad Shah expressed his displeasure over the slow pace of work & reminded all concerned about the deadline for finishing their job, which is March 23rd. He warned that no delay would be accepted in this regard.

He stated this while visiting the under construction RIUT, Rawalpindi on Wednesday. He inspected the whole building, which is at the final stage of its completion. Najam Shah directed the officers of Building Department that action should be taken against the contractor for non-completion of external work of the project within the timeline. He directed to complete all work including placing of underground cables & construction of drains etc along the external road before completion of the road. He made it clear that no work along or under the road will be allowed after its completion. Besides, Vice Chancellor Rawalpindi Medical University Professor Muhammad Umer, Medical Superintendent RIUT Dr Shoaib Khan, MS DHQ Hospital Rawalpindi Dr Khalid Randhawa & the representatives of NESPAK, FREEZOL & Ifrikhar & Company were also present on this occasion. The representative of FREEZOL confirmed that 100% work on HVAC would be completed & HVAC will be fully functional by 30th April. All concerned including C&W & contractors assured that OPD portion would be ready & handed over to the Medical Superintendent by 15 March 2018. Secretary Health noticed seepage in some places including washroom & directed the C&W to make sure there is no seepage in future. He also directed that the experts of C&W & NESPAK should examine the entire building & make sure removal of seepage. Najam Ahmad Shah also directed to expedite the work on the power station. Secy. Health directed to increase the work force & complete the construction of the power station within 10-12 days so that transformers are installed by 23rdMarch.
