Scope of Regional Blood Centers to Be Expanded

Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Kh. Salman Rafique presided over a meeting regarding expansion of services of Regional Blood Centers Multan and Bahawalpur. Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Health Kh. Imran Nazir, Secretary Health Ali Jan Khan, Special Secretary SH&ME Dr. Sajid Chouhan, Dr. Abdul Bari of Indus Trust hospital, Mian Ahsen of Rajub Tayyub Erdgan, Secretary Punjab Blood Transfusion Authority Dr. Mohammad Ather, Director IBTS Dr. Zafar Iqbal, members of the trust and other concerned officers of both the Health Departments attended the meeting. The meeting discussed the measures and the plans for the provision of high quality blood and blood products to more areas from Regional Blood Centers was considered.  Various measures to widen the areas of services provision were decided. Kh. Salman Rafiqu said that more areas of South Punjab being linked with Regional Blood Centers. The meeting approved Establishment of more Regional Blood Centers in Lahore, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi.  Ministers for Health explained that Government is linking more areas with RBCs for providing international standard safe and healthy blood and blood products to all needy patients. Kh. Salman Rafique said that RBCs of international standards would helpful to eradicate the business of substandard and inadequate blood banks from the Province.
