Punjab Government Has Formed a Committee for the Protection of Children: Punjab Minister for HR & MA Khalil Tahir Sandhu


Punjab Minister for HR & MA Khalil Tahir Sandhu has said that the Punjab government has formed a committee for the protection of children and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah will head the committee comprising of 20 members included Inspector General Police. The Minister expressed these views during a meeting at Human Rights Camp office regarding child protection day. Secretary HR&MA Asim Kmaal, representatives of different NGOs and related officers were present in the meeting.

The Minister said that it has been decided to observe February 7th as the child protection day throughout the province and this step is being taken on the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif. The minister said that it is need of time that the younger students of the primary classes should be educated about their bodies like the good touch and bad touch. The Minister said that Punjab Government has been developed a comprehensive Booklet with the title of "Safe Child, Strong Pakistan" to safeguard our children in future.

The provincial minister further added that the government will launch the “search alert system” like the “Amber alert” pattern to prevent the abduction of children. He directed secretary Asim Kamal to perform a prominent role through the platform of Human Right’s department to expand the dissemination to private educational institutions, Madaris and all those places where minors serve like tea stalls, workshops etc. The Minister said that the affected families should be encouraged to report the cases to police, civil society, NGOs or the civil administration.
