Literacy & NFBE Department Organized Consultative Workshop for Development of Communication Strategy and Innovative Literacy Intervention.

Minister for Literacy and Non Formal Basic Education Dr. Farrukh Javed has said that separate teachers training programs are being developed independently for non-formal education sector. He said that community mobilization and motivation always play positive role in improving educational indicators sp community should come forward to enhance literacy level in the concerned area. He was addressing One-day Consultative workshop for Development of Communication Strategy and Innovative Literacy Intervention at Shalimar Hal of Faletti’s hotel on Monday. Secretary Literacy and Non-Formal Basic Education Dr. Ismat Tahira, Academicians, Representatives of NGOs, Teachers, Children, Parents, Literacy Mobilizers, District Education Officers Media persons and representatives from Different concerned government departments participated in the workshop. The workshop was designed to get inputs to develop Communication Strategy of L&FBE Department for future use and to raise awareness among masses. It was also the focus to engage stakeholders to participate in Literacy interventions to enhance ownership of community and to achieve the gigantic targets of SDGs 2030. The Minister in his address said that the department always welcomes the feedback from the stakeholders like Parents, academia and students to propose future programs regarding schools, textbooks, teachers’ quality enhancement and governance issues. The participants of the workshop focused on improving the incentives of education especially for girls at all level of education. They suggested that salaries of teachers should be linked with the students’ performance. In non-formal education, better salaries of teachers may be linked with enrolment and retention of children and same for Adult Literacy programs, they added. It was proposed that separate assessment framework should be developed for non-formal education sector.
