On the instructions of the Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Kh. Salman Rafique, Secretary Punjab Blood Transfusion Authority (PBTA) Dr. Mohammad Athar visited blood banks in Layyah, Bhakkar and Jhang. Various blood units of public and private sector were inspected. On spot instructions were issued for improvement in working at both DHQ Layyah and Bhakkar. Various shortcomings were pointed out. Shafiq Hospital Bhakkar blood bank was found substandard and was immediately stopped from working. Registration of blood bank Maryam Children Hospital Layyah was also cancelled due to non availability of essential equipment and poor facilities in blood bank. The improvements made at the blood bank DHQ hospital Jhang were appreciated and suggestions were given for further improvement in the services. The Secretary PBTA reiterated that although a large work is to be done for provision of safe blood to all, however, the authority will continue its efforts for improvement in provision of the safe and healthy blood across the province.
