Online Monitoring System of Ventilators in Teaching Hospitals Introduced

Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, Najam Ahmed Shah has said that online monitoring system for ventilators in the teaching hospitals and specialized healthcare institutions have been introduced to ensure availability, functioning and rationale use of the ventilators for ensuring timely provision of this instruments to the deserving patients. He said that the system would further improve the quality of emergency and intensive care units services.

He stated this while addressing a training workshop for the concerned staff of the 40 teaching hospitals of the province to train those regarding Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for online monitoring system of ventilators. The workshop has been arranged by the Strategic Planning Unit of Specialized Healthcare Department at the Auditorium of Children Hospital. 135 staff members from 40 hospitals attended the workshop. Director General SPU Prof. Ahsan Waheed Rathor and his team, experts from Punjab Information Technology Board and Turkish consultant Dr. Hassan Kagal were also present in the workshop. Prof. Rathor informed that the concerned staff of the hospitals have been provided tablets and internet facility for monitoring and uploading of the data. He said that all the ventilators in the teaching hospitals would be registered with a system. He further said that these ventilators have been categorized in two groups (Emergency & ICU). The monitoring staff would upload the name of patient on the ventilator, his attendants name and contact number through tablet computer. He said that the staff nurse of the emergency or ICU would also upload the complete information regarding shifting of the patients on the ventilators and laying off immediately. Najam Ahmed Shah said that introducing online ventilator system application is to improve the system of the hospitals and ensuring quality health services to the patients. Secretary Health further said that the new system would be help reducing the complaints regarding the availability and functioning of the ventilators and its provision to the serious patients on merit. He said that ventilators monitoring system would also point out the gaps in the system and its timely redresses.
