Surgical Department Of LGH Organized Training Workshop on Diabetes

Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute Prof. Ghias un Nabi Tayyab has urged that for diabetes free Pakistan we all should work on war footing basis against this disease on the pattern of dengue and every citizen have to play its role.  He expressed these views while addressing training workshop on diabetes in Surgical Department of Lahore General Hospital where Prof. Farooq Afzal, Prof. Afsar Ali Bhatti, Prof. Sikandar Hayat Gondal, Prof. Imran Hassan Khan, Dr. Maliha Hameed, Dr. Fatima Hamdani and Dr. Salman Shakeel also addressed and trained doctors, medical students of Ameer Uddin Medical College, nurses and Para medical staff on diabetes. Prof. Ghias un Nabi Tayyab said that unfortunately public awareness is not up to the mark and people are caught of diabetes easily. He said that this disease is called mother of problems as the victim has to face a number of other of complications as well. Principal PGMI  said that diabetes patient is in danger from head to toe and they should specially care about their feet and save them from any worm or injury. He also called upon the young doctors to focus the latest research on diabetes and make part it of their medical treatment. Prof. G. N. Tayyab said that Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif has taken a number of initiatives in the field of health and special steps have been taken to provide relief to the masses while separate clinics have been established in public hospital for diabetic patients.
Other medical experts in their training lectures asked the doctors and medical staff to fully observe the laid down procedure for the diabetic patients. They said that apart from medical treatment counseling of patients is also of great importance. Diet, exercise and other precautionary measures can play an important role in the recovery of diabetes, they added.
