Environment Protection Department Compels To Remove Rusty and Shabby Pipelines

Provincial Minister for Environment Protection Begum Zakia Shahnawaz has said that Environment Protection Department compels other concerned departments to remove rusty and shabby pipe lines for better human health, because old rusted water pipes provide an ideal breeding ground for microorganism including bacteria, and algae .This microbial growth in water distribution pipes pose a direct risk to public health through water borne diseases. She said that the most common water related infections are diarrhea, dysentery, gastroenteritis and skin infections etc.
She expressed these views in a seminar organized by Dedex Company regarding anti-microbial water pipes. The Minister said that we support all other materials like heat resistant sheets etc, being produced and used for the protection of environment in housing industry. We have to make everyone aware of the fact that we must save our natural resources and it is very important to go for new technology, she added. Begum Zakia Shahnawaz appreciated the efforts of Dadex Company for introducing antimicrobial water pipes. It induces many problems in water like; change in color, odor, taste and turbidity, blockage of pipes and inefficacy of disinfection treatment, he added.
