Raja Ashfaq Sarwar Chairs High Powered Committee for Skill Development

High powered committee for the skill development by the CM Punjab was presided over by the Punjab Minister for Labour and Human Resource Raja Ashfaq Sarwar. Minister Industries Sheikh Allauddin, Chairman P&D, Secretary Labour, Secretary Industries, Special Secretary Higher Education, Director Schools Education and Senior Representatives of TEVTA, PVTC, PITB, PSDF, Agriculture, Primary & Secondary Health, Specialized Health & Medical Education, Livestock & Dairy Development, Mines & Minerals, Social Welfare, Home, Population, LG&RD, Cooperatives and PBTE attended the meeting.
A detailed review was taken on the skill development strategy growth of the Punjab government. This committee is constituted on the directions of Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif not only to assess the skill development programme and to cope up the target set out by the Punjab government. i.e. two million by 2018 but also to further make innovative developments in this programme. This committee is constituted in collaboration with almost all the provincial departments in order to have maximum input of all the departments and to have first hand information. It was told in the meeting that Punjab government is going smoothly in the accomplishing of its two million skilled people programme. TEVTA, PVTC and PSDF are the major stakeholders and training providers 55000 skilled labour have completed their training in 2016-17.
On this occasion, Minister Labour told that there is no doubt that we are achieving the set targets but there is a dire need to institutionalize the system so that there should be continuity in the programme which will further produce positive results. Moreover, he directed all the departments to come up with the detailed reports that how far and how much they have dispensed skilled labour. He further directed to work together in order to accomplish the desired goal within the specified time.
