CERTs – Rescue Mohafiz Management Training For Rescue & Safety Officers Of Punjab

Upon directions of the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shehbaz Sharif, Founder Director General Punjab Emergency Service, Rescue 1122 Dr. Rizwan Naseer, SI directed all implementing officers of Emergency Service to establish Community Emergency Response Teams in all Union Councils of Punjab. D.G Emergency Services Dr Rizwan, SI said that it is the time to bring change through knowledge attitude and practice change of the society for healthy safer and resilient communities in Punjab. He further emphasized that volunteers are the great human resource to be utilized in all major emergencies, events, disaster risk reduction strategies for establishment of Safer Communities in the country.

 In this regard, training of Rescue and Safety Officers and their staff on management of Community Emergency Response Teams through Mohafiz Application has been conducted at Emergency Services Headquarters. The objective of this training was to enhance participants understanding on CERTs management through Mohafiz Application which includes the use of IT for timely coordination, mobilization and training of Rescue Mohafiz–Community Emergency Response Teams in all Union Councils of Punjab.

The training was organized by Rescue 1122 in collaboration with Humanetek Pvt Limited for capacity building of concerned Officers and Officials from all over the Punjab. The trainers from Humanetek imparted training on the use of web portal, application through practical exercises on  Mohafiz App. The Head Community Safety and Information Rescue 1122 Ms Deeba prepared a contingency plan of campaigns and activities for remaining months of this year through consultation process for developing safety culture through CERTs. She also provided a road map to complete given task of registration and training of 100,000 volunteers to set an example of systematic volunteers’ mobilization to promote safety culture in the Punjab. The Director General Rescue 1122 Punjab Dr. Rizwan Naseer (Sitara-e-Imtiaz) said that CERTs model shall be replicated in other provinces in collaboration with emergency services of those provinces as rescuers from all over the Pakistan are being trained from the Punjab Emergency Service. The replication of the best practices of CERTs shall help to establish safer resilient and more prosperous communities in Pakistan.
