Rawalpindi Institute Of Urology Is In Its Completion Mode

Provincial Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that government is spending huge funds for the provision of quality healthcare services to the people. He said that Rawalpindi Institute of Urology & Kidney Transplantation (RIU) is in its completion mode on which Rs. 4000 million are being spent. Kh. Salman Rafique further said that it is a state-of-the-art institution where all the medical as well as surgical facilities would be available for the kidney patients along with diagnostic facilities including MRI, CT scan and dialysis.

He stated this while visiting under construction Rawalpindi Institute of Urology on Wednesday. Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Talat Mehmood Gondal, officers of C&W and Building Department, Coordinator of Development Schemes Dr. Athar, Assistant Professor of Urology Rawalpindi Medical College Dr. Masroor Malik and other concerned officers were accompanied the Minister. Kh. Salman Rafique directed to accelerate the construction work on the project without compromising the quality of work. He directed that the project should be completed on fast track so that people of Rawalpindi region could benefit from the latest health facilities. He said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, health sector is being upgraded in Punjab due to which latest medical facilities are being available across the province.

Meanwhile, Minister Health Kh. Salman Rafique also presided over a meeting to review the arrangements and steps taken for dengue eradication in Rawalpindi. Besides Deputy Commissioner Talat Mehmood Gondal, senior officers of all the concerned departments including Chief Executive Officer Health Dr. Arshad Ali Sabir, MS DHQ Hospital Dr. Khalid Randhawa, MS Benazir Bhutto Hospital attended the meeting. Kh. Salman Rafique directed that the paramedical staff and nurses also participate in dengue campaign in the hospital. He said that due to commencement of summer season dengue breeding has been started in the province therefore, all the departments should take concrete steps and pay attention on outdoor and indoor dengue surveillance to check the dengue. He directed the officers of Environment Department to present a report regarding the measures taken by their department for dengue control in the next meeting. He said that no negligence or leniency would be tolerated in this regard. He patted the officers of Social Welfare Department and Director Colleges for taking effective measures against dengue. He said that other officers should also follow the strategy and spirit of Director Social Welfare and Director Colleges, Rawalpindi. Kh. Salman Rafique directed that vigorous awareness campaign against dengue also be launched for which seminars and walks should be arranged besides displaying banners and hoardings on the main roads and roundabouts for sanitization of the masses.
