Punjab Health Professionals Will Get Training On Emergency Health/Disaster Management In Turkey

On the direction of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, a training programme regarding Emergency Health Services and Disaster Management is being conducted for the Punjab Health Professionals in the city of Izmir, Turkey to enhance technical expertise and capacity building of health professionals. This training programme will start from 9th April.

It is stated by the Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Najam Ahmed Shah while giving the details regarding the collaboration between Ministry of Health Turkey and Punjab Health Department. He said that Pak-Turk health week was also observed from 18th March to 26th March in connection with the Pakistan Day celebrations during which the Turkish doctors performed diagnosis and treatment activities in the specialties of orthopedics, urology, neonatology, infection diseases, radiology, general anesthesia, peadiatric surgery and gynecology. The Pak-Turk health week was held in Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Muzaffargarh and Nishtar Hospital Multan. During the week, Turkish surgeons performed 75 operations in different specialties. Director General EU & Foreign Affairs Dr. Oner Gunar also attended the week. Najam Ahmad Shah further said that Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education, Khawaja Salman Rafique along with 5-member delegation will visit Turkey next week to attend the opening ceremony of the Expo Medical Eurasia Fair. Secretary Health informed that the Minister will also visit to Yozgat City Hospital along with his delegation. Najam Ahmed Shah further said that presently 13 field coordinators are visiting Turkey for getting practical and theoretical training in the field of Coordination System in terms of health issues in Konya, Bahkesir and Izmir provinces. They will also attend provincial evaluation meetings held with the participation of Prof. Dr. Recep Akdag in the said provinces. The training programmes in different disciplines for nurses from Punjab is also being conducted in Ankara, Turkey. The second batch of 20 nurses is being departed shortly for training. Moreover, a delegation of entomologists would also visit Turkey next week for benefiting from the knowledge and expertise of Turkish experts in the field of vector born diseases. Najam Ahmed Shah said that by observing Pak-Turk joint health week in connection with the celebrations of Pakistan Day, more than 400 local physicians and surgeons had an opportunity for hand on training. The Turkish surgeons conducted 75 operations in ophthalmology, orthopedics, general surgery, gyn-obst, urology and pediatric surgery. Pak-Turkish cooperation in health sector would go a long way for bringing in latest concepts and health sector development in Punjab.
