Provincial Minister for Education, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has said that athletes are the ambassadors of peace. He said that sports play a pivotal role in formation of a healthy society. In this connection, the Punjab Government is taking effective steps for the promotion of sports in the province, he added.
He stated this while presiding over a meeting regarding induction of Physical Education in the Curriculum of government schools with the collaboration of British Council. Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said that the Punjab government is striving hard to promote sports culture throughout the province. He said that promotion of sports activities is very helpful to eliminate extremism and to develop healthy society. He said that sports always play an important role to highlight the soft image of a country. He further said that the inclusion of physical education in the syllabus is aimed that promotion of extracurricular activities for making the children physically strong as well. Formation of a healthy society through sports activities, is the need of hour, the Minister stressed. He said that Inter-School competitions would also be conducted in government schools, he added.
In the meeting recruitment of new Physical Education Teachers also came under discussion besides other related matters. Special Secretary School Education Dr Imran Sikandar Bloch, Additional Secretary Rana Hassan Akhtar, EDO Education Lahore Tariq Rafique, Director School Program British Council Nasir Nazir, representatives of PCTB and other concern officers were also present in the meeting.
