The major functions of this department are:
- Organization and registration of water user association under the farm water management and user association Ordinance, 1981 for promotion of water course improvement and other water management activities in the district
- Preparation and implementation of water management development plan in the district
- Water course improvement, precision land leveling, irrigation agronomy practices, ground water management and harvesting of water resources in barani/rain fed areas
- Renting out agriculture machinery at approved rates
- Service matters relating to the district cadre
- Maintenance of government buildings
- Purchase of store and capital goods
- Feedback to Agriculture Department on the above-mentioned business
