The Architecture Department, an attached department of the Communication & Works Department Punjab, has a specific role to perform. Basically, it provides architectural services to various departments of the Punjab Government. It is mainly concerned with planning, designing and supervision of architectural aspects of all the Government sponsored projects / schemes.

Functions:
- Formulation of concepts, schematic designs, and feasibility studies in coordination with the Client Department
- Development of Master plans and layout plans
- Preparation of working drawings, etc., in consultation with the Building Department regarding structural aspects / design

- Computer generation of 2D and 3D presentation and working drawings

The total annual budget of the Architecture Department is about Rs.30.496 million inclusive of pay of officers and staff, and all other expenditures of the Department. It would, thus, be seen that the Architecture Department is rendering architectural services to the Government at a very economical budget provision if it is compared with the private sector.
